DFIR Training in Hyderabad

Digital forensics and incident response: learn to preserve evidence, work out what happened on a compromised machine and write it up for a client or a court. DFIR is taught inside our 6-week SOC Analyst and DFIR course in Ameerpet or live online.

What DFIR Means

Incident response contains and fixes a breach. Digital forensics answers what happened, how and when, using evidence that has been handled so it can be trusted. Teams need both, and the SOC Analyst and DFIR course teaches them together, after the monitoring skills that spot an incident in the first place.

Forensics: The 14-Hour Module

  • The forensic investigation process, chain of custody and the order of volatility
  • Disk acquisition and analysis with Autopsy, and Windows file systems and artifacts
  • Memory forensics with Volatility
  • Network and email forensics, and Linux forensics basics
  • Malware analysis basics: static and dynamic analysis in a sandbox, and extracting indicators of compromise
  • Anti-forensics awareness, building a timeline and writing the forensic report

Incident Response: The 10-Hour Module

  • The incident handling process from preparation to lessons learned
  • Playbooks for malware, email, web application, network, insider and cloud incidents
  • First response, evidence preservation and escalation
  • CERT-In six-hour reporting and data breach duties under India's DPDP Act
  • Incident communication and the incident report

The Capstone

The final 10 hours are a timed multi-alert simulation. You write investigations, assemble an incident case with evidence and a timeline, hand over a shift, escalate, and defend your work in an oral exam. Tools across the course include Splunk, Wazuh, Sysmon, Sigma, Wireshark, Autopsy and Volatility.

DFIR and the EC-Council Certifications

The course covers the core concepts behind EC-Council's incident handler and forensics credentials, but it is not an exam. If you want the credential, see ECIH (₹34,000 + GST) and CHFI (₹37,000 + GST), or read ECIH vs CHFI to choose.

Fees and Who It Suits

The course costs ₹20,000 + GST for 6 weeks and 90 guided hours, and you can try 3 to 5 classes free. It suits SOC analysts, system and network administrators, and graduates starting in defense. New to forensics? Start with digital forensics for beginners, and see the SOC analyst course for the monitoring side.

Order of Volatility, in Plain Words

Evidence disappears at different speeds. What is in memory and active network connections can vanish when a machine is switched off, while files on disk last longer. Investigators therefore collect the fastest-fading evidence first, which is why memory forensics with Volatility comes before disk analysis with Autopsy in a live case.

Chain of Custody

Evidence is only useful if you can show who held it, when, and that it was not changed. You practise documenting each step, hashing evidence and keeping a log, so your findings stand up when a client, an auditor or a court asks how you know.

What an Incident Report Contains

A good report gives the timeline of events, the evidence behind each step, the affected systems, what was contained and when, and what to change so it does not happen again. The NIST guide to integrating forensic techniques (SP 800-86) describes the same stages: collection, examination, analysis and reporting.

Six Questions to Ask Any Cyber Security Institute

Compare us properly and do not take anyone's word for it. Ask us every one of these, and ask every other institute too.

Who issues the certificate?

An institute completion certificate and an EC-Council certification are different things. Ask which you receive, and whether the exam voucher and any retake are included. Our parent company, BERRY9 IT SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, has been an EC-Council Accredited Training Center since 2015: ask us for the accreditation details.

What exactly is in the fee?

Tax, courseware, lab access, voucher and retakes should all be stated in writing before you pay.

How long do I get lab access?

Hands-on time is what turns a certificate into a skill. Ask for the lab access period and what happens if you miss a session.

Who is teaching me?

Ask for the instructor's name and background, and ask to see an example of graded work.

What is the withdrawal and refund policy?

It should be written down and acknowledged before you pay, not explained verbally afterward.

Do you offer placement?

We do not provide job placement or placement assistance. What we give you is the skill, six graded reports you can show an employer, and interview preparation: resume and LinkedIn review and mock technical interviews. Applying for jobs is up to you, and the hiring decision belongs to the employer.

Common Questions

Is there a separate DFIR course?

DFIR is part of the SOC Analyst and DFIR course. Forensics is a 14-hour module, incident response a 10-hour module, and both feed the capstone simulation.

Do I need to know Windows internals first?

No. The course builds from network defense fundamentals and log sources before forensics, so you do not need prior forensic experience.

Does this prepare me for CHFI or ECIH?

It covers the core concepts behind both, but each exam is a separate EC-Council certification with its own fee and preparation.

Can I learn DFIR online?

Yes. Live online sessions, recordings and virtual labs are available for this course.

Is digital forensics different from incident response?

Yes. Incident response contains and recovers from an attack. Forensics establishes what happened, using evidence that has been handled so it can be trusted. The course teaches both.
