API Security Training Online

Test APIs the way attackers and auditors do: build an inventory, break authorization at object, property and function level, attack tokens and GraphQL, and report what you find. API testing is taught inside our 6-week Application Security course, which you can join live online.

Where API Security Sits in Our Courses

There is no separate API-only course. API security is taught across the Application Security course, because most real APIs sit behind a web or mobile app and are tested together with it. That keeps the course at 6 weeks and ₹20,000 + GST, and means you learn to move between the browser, the mobile app and the API.

API Topics, as They Appear in the Syllabus

  • Inventory first: REST, SOAP and GraphQL, OpenAPI documents and schemas, and building an API inventory before testing anything.
  • Broken object-level authorization (BOLA): changing identifiers to reach another user's data, and testing every role against every endpoint.
  • Property-level and function-level authorization: mass assignment, hidden fields and admin functions reachable by ordinary users.
  • Tokens and sign-in: JWT handling, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect weaknesses.
  • Server-side risks: injection and server-side request forgery, including requests to cloud metadata services.
  • Abuse of limits: quotas, rate limits, resource consumption and race conditions in sensitive workflows.
  • GraphQL: introspection, resolver-level authorization, batching and query depth.
  • Mobile back ends: intercepting an Android app with Burp and testing the API it talks to.

AI Features and APIs

Chat assistants, retrieval and agents are reached through ordinary endpoints. The course covers how they sit behind web and API endpoints and the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications 2025, including prompt injection and improper output handling.

How the Online Sessions Work

  • Live, interactive sessions with real-time questions
  • Recordings you can replay when you miss a point
  • Virtual labs for practice between sessions
  • The same syllabus, capstone and assessments as the classroom batch

Standards You Will Work With

Findings are mapped to the OWASP API Security Top 10:2023, the OWASP Top 10:2025, the Web Security Testing Guide and ASVS. You finish with a capstone against an unseen web application and its API, a retest and an oral exam.

Fees and Next Steps

One course is ₹20,000 + GST. With the advanced Network and Active Directory course the Offensive Security Track is ₹30,000 + GST. See the upcoming batches, or read OWASP API Security Top 10 explained first.

What Broken Object-Level Authorization Looks Like

Say an app lets you open your order at an address ending in order 1001. If changing that to 1002 shows someone else's order, the API checks that you are signed in but not that the order is yours. This is broken object-level authorization, the first item on the OWASP API Security Top 10. You test it by repeating each request as each role and with each identifier, which is why the course starts with an inventory and a coverage matrix.

Testing the API Behind a Mobile App

Many APIs are only reached through an app. In the Android module you intercept the app's traffic with Burp, deal with certificate pinning and root detection using Frida and objection in the lab, and then test the back-end API the app talks to, the same way you would test it from a browser.

What You Need to Join Online

A reasonably modern laptop with enough memory to run virtual machines, and a stable connection. Sessions are live with recordings for review. A counselor can give specific guidance for your laptop before you pay, and you can attend 3 to 5 classes free first.

Six Questions to Ask Any Cyber Security Institute

Compare us properly and do not take anyone's word for it. Ask us every one of these, and ask every other institute too.

Who issues the certificate?

An institute completion certificate and an EC-Council certification are different things. Ask which you receive, and whether the exam voucher and any retake are included. Our parent company, BERRY9 IT SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, has been an EC-Council Accredited Training Center since 2015: ask us for the accreditation details.

What exactly is in the fee?

Tax, courseware, lab access, voucher and retakes should all be stated in writing before you pay.

How long do I get lab access?

Hands-on time is what turns a certificate into a skill. Ask for the lab access period and what happens if you miss a session.

Who is teaching me?

Ask for the instructor's name and background, and ask to see an example of graded work.

What is the withdrawal and refund policy?

It should be written down and acknowledged before you pay, not explained verbally afterward.

Do you offer placement?

We do not provide job placement or placement assistance. What we give you is the skill, six graded reports you can show an employer, and interview preparation: resume and LinkedIn review and mock technical interviews. Applying for jobs is up to you, and the hiring decision belongs to the employer.

Common Questions

Is API security training offered as a separate course?

No. It is part of the Application Security course, together with web, Android and thick-client testing.

Can I attend live online from outside Hyderabad?

Yes. Sessions are live and interactive, recordings are available for review, and virtual labs are provided for practice.

Do I need to know how to code?

Reading JSON and simple code helps, but you do not need to be a developer. The first module covers the web and API basics you need for testing.

Which API standards does the course use?

The OWASP API Security Top 10:2023 and OWASP Top 10:2025, the Web Security Testing Guide and ASVS.

What is the OWASP API Security Top 10?

It is a list of the most common API risks, such as broken object-level authorization, broken authentication and unrestricted resource consumption. The course maps each of its test cases to the 2023 edition.
